AD-VENT: PADDY POWER DELIVERS A WORLD CUP CHRISTMAS CRACKER

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Move over Mary, Irish betting firm Paddy Power has entered the Christmas TV ad war…and delivered a cracker.

The well-known bookie delivers its take on the true meaning of Christmas as we prep for a festive season basted in World Cup juiciness, served with a side of Southgate.

Celebrating the unprecedented advent of football and festive traditions colliding, the mischievous brand has sidled up to the usual crimbo clichés and promptly ripped them to shreds.

With the help of Shameless star David Threlfall’s unmistakable voice, Paddy Power delivers a festive delicacy, dropping scenes that pay homage to football’s most iconic moments all wrapped up in Christmassy paper and tied in a bow.

Flares clash with turkeys, lads get their knits out, we see what happens when a Christmas carol organist goes rogue, football-obsessed nans kneel before football managers, and former England great Peter Crouch collides with a bouncer in the betting firm’s reimagining of a tale as old as time itself as the striker struggles to find room at ‘The Inn’.

he “Where were you in 22?” campaign pushes the boundaries of bedlam, with everything on the table (including sprouts!). From kitsch crockery (illustrated by artist Vince Pastiche), a World Cup edition of Charades, Christmas jumpers and even a special build OOH festive light display of that famous Frenchman, who delivered an iconic World Cup memory that sticks in the head!

In a semi-ironic display of British patriotism, Paddy Power is offering a free Bet Builder on all England games, meaning the better England do, the more Paddy Power cough up. Tis the season for giving after all!

A celebration of the unprecedented collision of the World Cup and Christmas festivities, “Where were you in 22?” is a rallying cry to the nation to make the most of this historic moment. Designed to position Paddy Power as the home of football during the World Cup, the TV advert launches on Saturday 12th November, running throughout the World Cup period.

Michelle Spillane, Marketing and Brand Director for Paddy Power UK & Ireland said: For the first time in our lives, football fans and brands are faced with the prospect of Christmas colliding with a Winter World Cup. It’s unchartered territory for all of us. To Paddy Power, it presented us with double the opportunity to surprise and delight football fans.

“Our aim was to create an ad campaign that celebrates the beauty in both, that captures the mood of the nation and gets fans excited about the prospect of this unforgettable opportunity to mark where they were in 2022 during this once in a lifetime tournament.”

MGA participates in UEFA and Council of Europe conference on the use of social networks in match-fixing

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) was one of the participants at a conference organised by the Council of Europe and UEFA, in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee and INTERPOL, on the emerging use of social media platforms in match-fixing.

Entitled “Sports Competitions Manipulation in the digital era: better addressing it together”, the conference focused on the misuse of social media platforms in contacting players and referees for match-fixing purposes.

The conference brought together the Group of Copenhagen’s National Platforms, the sport movement, public authorities, data brokers and social media representatives to learn about and exchange knowledge on recent trends in sports competitions manipulation.

As such techniques become increasingly sophisticated, real opportunities are emerging for further discussions and improved prevention efforts.

Antonio Abdilla Zerafa, MLRO and Head of Financial Crime Compliance at the MGA, said that the Authority’s presence at such fora was important since the MGA continuously assists law enforcement and sports regulatory bodies with their investigations into acts of sports competition manipulation through the sharing of intelligence, which includes betting data.

“In this particular conference, it was nice to see social media platforms also being welcomed into the discussion. Personally, I regard this as a milestone as I believe that such platforms have a lot of information that they can bring to the table to help prevent and investigate such crimes.”

The conference was held on the 19th of October in Strasbourg.

SOFTSWISS Highlights Resurgence of Fiat Currencies in Latest Crypto Report

Reading Time: 4 minutes

With less than two months left in 2022, it is safe to say that it has been another year where cryptocurrency has been a hot topic across numerous industries, including the online real money gambling space.

As the first iGaming software company to work with cryptocurrencies, SOFTSWISS regularly shares the сompany report which includes the most recent insight into the performance of crypto coins across key products to inform the wider community about the market’s potential.

Before diving into the specifics of crypto, it is worth noting that during the first three quarters of 2022, total bets on the supplier’s platform increased by 33.1% compared to this period in 2021, showcasing significant growth of interest in its products.

Further underpinning the strong performance of the SOFTSWISS business model and its increased client base, the company’s GGR for the first three quarters was also up compared to the same period in 2021.

The growth was mainly driven by an increasing number of partners using the Casino Platform and the Game Aggregator solutions, with clients seeing a solid performance from both products. The difference in GGR year-to-date is a staggering 36,6% increase, with SOFTSWISS’ client base continuing to expand, ensuring bettors utilise the supplier’s array of products with both fiat and cryptocurrencies.

CRYPTOCURRENCIES DECLINE

While the value of all bets in fiat currency increased by 8.4% on a quarter-on-quarter level and by 24,2% on a year-to-date level, there was an overall decline in the number of individual crypto bets placed.

Compared to the second quarter, the value fell by 5.9%. However, in comparison with the three quarters of 2021, we can note a more considerable drop in cryptocurrency bets – 23,5%.

Q2 highlighted the cyclical nature of cryptocurrency. While this is nowhere near the crypto winter the iGaming industry was crying out about, it does signal an upcoming downturn phase in cryptocurrency betting. However, seasonality will likely play a role in Q4 as it usually does towards the start of the holiday season, which sees an uptick in bets.

Commenting on SOFTSWISS’ latest report, Vitali Matsukevich, COO at SOFTSWISS, said: “Despite the numbers, interest in cryptocurrency among players and operators is only increasing. As a comparatively new phenomenon in the iGaming industry, cryptocurrency faces a volatile environment, depending on different economic and social factors. However, we expect crypto rates to increase in the fourth quarter of this year, which will be driven by current gaming activity.”

FIAT MARKET SHARE ON THE RISE

A significant number of bets, more than 70%, are placed with fiat currency, and crypto bets account for one-third of the total bet volume. It is also important to highlight that in a comparison of the three quarters of 2021, the ratio of cryptocurrency bets was definitely higher at almost 44% – and this is reflected in the chart in comparison with the same period in 2022. This difference from last year over the current year is explained by the positive fluctuations of major and minor cryptocurrencies during the Second Wave in 2021.

From the players using crypto coins, data shows that Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin continue to be the most common options. In general, players remain loyal to their chosen crypto coins, with Bitcoin having near-ubiquitous dominance, as more than 72% of all crypto bets were placed with the currency in Q3. However, there is a firm belief within SOFTSWISS that USDT betting will be on the rise.

The ranking of the cryptocurrencies most frequently betting in Q3 is shown as follows:

  • Bitcoin (BTC) – 72,8%;
  • Ethereum (ETC) – 14,5%
  • Litecoin (LTH) – 5,2%

One certain thing is that despite a continued decline in crypto bets in the third quarter of 2022, players still demand to use alternative currencies. More and more operators understand the importance of offering it as a payment solution, which is expected to continue.

The full list of the most popular cryptocurrencies is available in the company report.

Vitali Matsukevich commented: “Even though world events and crises of 2022 have quarterly impact indicators, prevailing market dynamics continue to favour cryptocurrencies and their use in online gambling. The crypto-friendly iGaming market remains relatively stable and is adapting in line with the global financial markets. We have a positive outlook on the future of crypto.”

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The European Safer Gambling Week – which ran from 17 to 23 October – ramped up its impact in its second year with 24 events organised and safer gambling messages shared on social media across 17 EU member states – achieving 1.5 million impressions which is a 400% increase from 2021.

The European Safer Gambling Week is an annual pan-European initiative to promote safer gambling, provide customers with practical safer gambling advice, signpost the help available, and encourage open and honest discussions about Europe’s latest safer gambling initiatives, regulations and research.

The initiative was established by EGBA in 2021 and is organised by a group of European online gambling associations, including EGBA and its members, who come together each year to raise awareness about safer gambling in Europe.

This year there were 24 different events, podcasts, or local activities organised across Europe to discuss and promote safer gambling, and a social media campaign which shared translated safer gambling messages across 17 EU member states.

During the week, EGBA hosted four webinars which had over 1000 registrations, bringing together more than 600 stakeholders for meaningful discussions about safer gambling. These webinars had 21 speakers, including from the European Commission, Twitter, KPMG, Kindred Group, Entain, universities and harm prevention organisations, and a broad range of attendees across Europe.

“We are delighted with the second edition of the European Safer Gambling Week, both in terms of its awareness-raising impact and the collaboration achieved. We want to step up the initiative each year and already have plans to enhance the next edition and cement the week as an important yearly milestone in the calendar of Europe’s gambling sector. While the initiative focuses on a dedicated week of events and initiatives, EGBA and its members are committed to promoting a strong culture of safer gambling every day.” – Maarten Haijer, Secretary General.

Parimatch Tech’s AWS case & more at SiGMA Malta

Reading Time: 2 minutes

On November 17, 2022, Parimatch Tech representatives will join the AWS panel at SiGMA Malta to talk about the company’s partnership with AWS and the benefits that this cooperation brought to Parimatch Tech and its clients. Here is a short in-depth sneak peek at key topics of the upcoming presentation, as well as an update on Parimatch Tech’s current operations.

A B2B transformation

Parimatch Tech is an international product company that develops the Parimatch brand and provides technology and marketing solutions for the entertainment industry worldwide. At the beginning of 2022, the company had been turning its primary focus to the B2B industry for quite some time, but the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February accelerated the process immensely. Among the things that enabled such a boost, was a strategic partnership between Parimatch Tech and AWS.

Parimatch Tech x AWS: partnership highlights

AWS cloud solutions gave Parimatch Tech an opportunity to use a hybrid infrastructure approach to host cloud and data centre infrastructure services. Thanks to this, over the year the company has developed several great features like a programmatic content recommendation engine and Environment by Click (EBC).

The basic principle of EBC is to provide the opportunity to create a separate environment with the most up-to-date versions of services opposite production in a few clicks. In a personal environment, you can add any feature, not affecting other teams and the development process in any way. With the following feature updates, you can update your environment to the required version without any problems and time losses to continue testing. EBC increases the quality of the product, reduces delivery time, and benefits the team’s cooperation, increasing uptime and decreasing the number of product issues,” explains Artur Ashyrov, Parimatch Tech CTO.

Artur will be one of the speakers at the November 17’s talk, giving a more in-depth view of technical details behind the innovations. Joining him, Dmytro Fedyukov—Deputy CTO, VP of Data, and the Head of B2B at Parimatch Tech—will unveil the business perspective, talking about all the ways that modern cloud solutions helped boost business development.

A glance into the future

Recently, Parimatch Tech obtained qualified industry certifications PCI DSS, GLI19, and GLI33 that allow the company to offer its products and services to operators in the fast-expanding markets. Among those products and services, there will be several quite exciting options:

  • a platform developed by Parimatch Tech, which is now one of the fastest growing in Eastern Europe;
  • Parimatch brand franchise that grants access to the brand’s top-notch platform, reputable name, and a formidable list of global partnerships;
  • BaaS, or Business as a Service, that combines all the advantages of the Parimatch Tech platform, industry expertise, and management excellence.

Expanding its B2B portfolio is one of Patimatch Tech’s key objectives for the near future. The company stresses that its B2B transformation journey is not over yet—even more so, it is currently in one of the most important stages. Parimatch Tech is expanding its presence on the global market, focusing on B2B product development and providing it to the partners across the world.

Vita Media Group launches redesigned Ekstrapoint.com to expand gaming portfolio

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Vita Media Group, a leading Danish iGaming company, today announced the release of a redesigned Ekstrapoint.com, the first loyalty and reward iGaming platform which is home to one of the largest iGaming communities with more than 100.000 casino players.

The new version of Ekstrapoint.com offers a sophisticated and minimalistic design developed in a user-centric model. Now Ekstrapoint offers live updates of the players with the most won points, casino competitions that ended with the biggest wins, and the total amount of money rewards paid in the last 30 days, and it wraps the experience through a dynamic interaction between players and operators.

“Ekstrapoint.com is the first product developed by Vita Media Group and therefore has a special place in our hearts. Through the new design, enhanced gameplay features, and player statistics, we expanded our gaming portfolio even more in a way where players and operators will enjoy being on Ekstrapoint even more. Current operators and all of the ones joining Ekstrapoint in the future, now receive improved services and greater brand exposure through the new version.” says Jimmi Meilstrup, CEO of Vita Media Group.

To reassure that a perfect product will be handed to players and customers, Vita Media Group tested the new version of Ekstrapoint at a closed event in the beginning of November in Copenhagen with a fraction of its customers who have provided feedback and ideas for improvement. With more than 700 Trustpilot reviews, Ekstrapoint remains an excellent-rated product.

Ekstrapoint.com swiftly progressed over the past year by adding new gaming content on its platform in several ways. Firstly, through a Vita Media Group and SmartSoft Gaming partnership, Ekstrapoint offered state-of-the-art slot games. Later in the process, Vita Media Group partnered with BlueOcean Gaming as step one in the process to integrate gaming content from various game developers by one single integration.

This product launch comes after Vita Media Group recently was crowned Casino Affiliate of the Year. At the 2022 edition of the EGR Operator Awards, Vita Media Group won the prestigious award for casino affiliation, followed by reaching the shortlist in 3 other categories. One of the other categories where Vita Media Group was shortlisted was the In-house Product award because of Ekstrapoint.com which proves the quality of products and services the company offers, as well as the commitment to delivering iGaming excellence.
