ICE and iGB Affiliate smash all records ahead of next chapter opening in Barcelona

Reading Time: 2 minutes

  • 52,345 unique attendees •100,000+ visitor days • 164 nations represented • ‘Perfect platform’ to grasp opportunities offered by Barcelona

The international gaming industry turned out in huge numbers to mark the last editions of ICE and iGB Affiliate to be held in London with a record 52,345 gaming professionals attending both shows.

New records were set across the board ahead of the January 2025 relocation to Barcelona.  The ICE unique attendance of 45,050 represented a 12% year-on-year increase with iGB Affiliate registering a total of 7,295 unique visitors, an uplift of 27% on the previous highest which was set at the 2023 show.

Visitation figures, which measure the number of person days gaming industry professionals spent at ExCeL London topped 100,000 for the first time in the exhibition’s near nine decade history.

The international appeal of ICE and iGB Affiliate was very much in evidence with representatives travelling to London from 164 nations stretching from the United States to Uruguay, Brazil to Botswana and Spain to Singapore.

Excluding host country the United Kingdom the nations registering a four figure attendance comprised: Malta (3,364 visitors), United States (1,913), Bulgaria (1,659), Cyprus (1,658), Spain (1,483), Germany (1,235) and Brazil (1,134).

Stuart Hunter, Managing Director, Clarion Gaming said: “February’s historic editions of ICE and iGB Affiliate were what I would describe as ‘I was there’ events. ICE and iGB Affiliate occupied every square millimetre of exhibition and meeting space available at ExCeL London and I am hugely grateful to everyone in the industry for creating an experience which was full of energy, excitement and optimism for the future

“Our exhibitors made a herculean effort to bid farewell to London in style and from all of the feedback received at show and from subsequent emails and conversations the celebratory mood connected with everyone who was present.”

He added: “Each year we commission an extensive and independent programme of research conducted amongst both exhibitors and visitors. That process is currently underway and it needs to run its course for me to share the findings. What I can say is that the headline figures are hugely encouraging. The response rates are unprecedented which shows a community of customers that’s really engaged with the brand.

“In terms of the satisfaction rating ICE is enjoying an approval score of 95 (out of 100) compared to the average for all UK-based business-to-business events of around 50. Whilst that’s really satisfying we are very aware that the bar has been set for Barcelona 2025. The entire team is confident that we can maintain and improve on what London has delivered. Make no mistake these are hugely exciting times for everyone that’s involved with ICE and iGB Affiliate.”

Portfolio Director Naomi Barton, who led the team responsible for delivering iGB Affiliate described the response to the  show as being ‘phenomenal’.  She confirmed: “The 2024 edition of iGB Affiliate re-wrote the record books with more attendees than at any time in the event’s history. The 7,295 unique visitors was 27% up on 2023 and represented the fourth consecutive year of double digit growth.

“All of the key performance indicators that we apply came out in positive territory with the number of exhibitors and sponsors totalling 250 (+11% year-on-year) occupying a total of 13,647 sqm of space (+16% year-on-year).  We are recording best ever satisfaction ratings and the volume of re-bookings for iGB Affiliate in Barcelona is off the scale.

“I don’t believe an iGB event has ever been in such a healthy position as we all look forward to an even brighter future for our market-leading event brands.”

A little news about Fabrizio Romano x 20SHOTS

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Affiliate marketing product provider 20SHOTS has kicked off the launch of its newly enhanced department with a loud, proud, “Here we gooooooo!” as it signs football journalist and influencer Fabrizio Romano.

The signing is part of the suite of services 20SHOTS is providing to Stats Performa’s Opta – the first being the creation of a bespoke Premier League fantasy football game, Opta Five, which will feature on the data analytics’ company’s Players Ratings Game Hub.

Now, not only is 20SHOTS creating the game, it’s also managing the marketing activities from inception to conclusion. And part of drumming up buzz and attention for Opta Games Hub has been signing football transfer legend Romano.

“This partnership represents a great step forward for us,” remarks 20SHOTS co-founder and CEO Jacob Kalms, “as it shows off our skills not just as a product builder and operator, but as a marketer and 360° partner for our clients”.

As part of the new campaign, Romano has already written an article for Opta Analyst alongside running two separate tutorial videos taking his users through the new Opta Five and Opta max products, shared with his millions of followers.

The second part of the campaign had Romano competing against his audience on a new game, Opta Streak, which was released to the Opta Games Hub 26 Jan, with Romano playing against his followers all over the world the following weekend.

20SHOTS marketing and content production

This partnership is just the latest major news 20SHOTS has shared, from major investment partners to taking the Brazilian market by storm. And now, signing major players to boost its marketing offerings.

Romano said that he’s proud to partner with both 20SHOTS and Opta for the campaign:

“The partnership just made sense to me,” he says, “as both companies are making waves in the football and iGaming worlds. Opta’s new Players Ratings Hub is a great place for football fans to spend time looking at stats and using their knowledge to win prizes. And 20SHOTS Premier League fantasy football game is incredibly fun and also offers a lot of chances to win big.

“Partnerships like this also offer value to my followers and align with their interests, which is a primary goal for any partnership I enter into.”

Considering that Romano’s other media partners include Google Pixel, the fragrance Laverne and other high profile products, this is a major win for 20SHOTS and Opta.

Kalms says: “This is another win that shows 20SHOTS has not only the reach to get big personalities on board, but also the intrinsic knowledge of our customers’ target market – sourcing relevant partners who will help increase brand awareness of the new platform and in turn convert to paying customers.

“We’re thrilled at the attention Romano has already brought to Opta Games Hub and this is only the beginning,” he concludes.

20SHOTS’ marketing services mean handling campaigns from start to finish: from sourcing partners to content, timing, tracking, reporting and analysis.

“Clients don’t need to get involved or go back and forth with personalities or media partners,” Kalms explains. “We handle it all.”

Further marketing work for Opta includes signing what Kalms refers to as a “big personality in the fantasy football space”.

To mark the occasion, Alpha Affiliates is proud to announce the winners of its inaugural Affiliate Race who will shortly be receiving their well-deserved rewards.

Significant Milestones and Market Expansion

In 2023, Alpha Affiliates achieved a 30% increase in affiliate partners, consolidating itself as a preferred choice among affiliates.

Amidst rapid growth, Alpha Affiliates launched four new cutting-edge casino brands – Spinch, Rakoo, OnLuck, and Casino Infinity. These additions to its portfolio not only showcased the company’s commitment to providing diverse gaming experiences, but also contributed to its status as a dynamic force in the iGaming industry.

Geographical market expansion was a key strategic move in 2023, with Alpha Affiliates making significant strides in new markets, including France, Italy, Belgium, Greece, Norway, Slovenia, Slovakia, and Hungary. This geographic diversification not only broadened its reach, but also ensured a more comprehensive and inclusive gaming experience for iGaming enthusiasts worldwide.

Partnerships, Collaborations and Awards

Alpha Affiliates celebrated its 11th anniversary in grand style by hosting a 200K EUR Affiliate Race for its partners, and hosting a milestone party in Cyprus, a testament to the company’s commitment to fostering a sense of community with its affiliate network. This is further exemplified by the new partnerships formed with niche media entities, including Affpapa, Affiverse Media, Global Gambling News, and SiGMA World. These collaborations bolstered the company’s reach and ensured its presence at the forefront of industry discussions and developments.

The company also proudly secured the Affpapa Award, and the team’s participation in six major conferences, including iGB London, SiGMA Dubai, iGB Amsterdam, SBC Barcelona, SiGMA Cyprus, and SiGMA Malta, further cemented its status as an industry leader and innovator. During SiGMA Malta, the company showed its social and collaborative nature in its popular booth, where it showcased a preview of its cutting-edge affiliate platform, provided exclusive merchandise, engaged in stimulating conversation on industry trends and raffled €7,500 with participants.

The Affiliate Race

With over €200,000 at stake, the top 30 partners, excelling in Net Gaming Revenue (NGR), will soon receive their well-deserved rewards. The top 5 will additionally be honored with exclusive branded rings, making this competition a remarkable success.

Team Growth and Future Plans

The Alpha Affiliates team experienced substantial growth, with 30 new employees, including Irina Makarova as Chief Marketing Officer, and Irina Pisanko as Chief Product Officer. It also welcomed the promotion of Boris Pashnev to CEO in December. Alpha Affiliates will be continuing to expand its workforce in 2024, and is expected to grow by a further 20% in the new year.

2024 will be the year for expansion, both internally within teams, and regionally, strengthening its position in tier one and tier two markets, with eyes set on several new EU regions. The company will align its strategic moves with the company’s vision of becoming a global leader in the iGaming affiliate space.

As part of its brand expansion, Alpha Affiliates looks to solidify its media presence by attending key industry events such as the Amplify Summit by Affiverse Media, iGB, SBC and SiGMA. The affiliate marketing company will also launch its brand new podcast series in partnership with Affiverse in January, looking at the latest trends and tips for affiliate marketing within the iGaming sector.

The company is inspired to achieve further greatness in 2024, and hopes its efforts will be recognised by the industry with more prestigious awards next year.

Reading Time: 2 minutes

With an impressive 91% satisfaction rate, Affilka by SOFTSWISS, an innovative affiliate marketing management solution, unveils the outcomes of its recent customer satisfaction survey by Kantar.

Kantar, the world’s leading marketing data and analytics agency, completed a comprehensive survey among Affilka’s clients in October 2023. The survey addressed pivotal issues, including overall satisfaction, Affilka’s image characteristics covering both functional and emotional aspects, and account manager satisfaction.

Key factors while choosing an affiliate marketing management platform

Based on the survey results, the key functional characteristics that emerge as top priorities when selecting an affiliate marketing management platform include:

  • Uninterrupted operation of the product and referral links
  • Product safety
  • Flexible commissions and deals for affiliates
  • Convenience of working with the partner database
  • Availability and speed of data upload

Remarkably, Affilka’s clients express significant satisfaction with these key factors. A considerable number, accounting for 49% of respondents, highlighted that they are likely to recommend it as the platform that covers all their business needs.

Speaking about overall satisfaction, 42% of the respondents who gave the highest rating expressed complete satisfaction with the platform’s performance. Almost half of the respondents were content but reported some minor issues. The average overall satisfaction score stood at 8.1 out of 10.

Functional and emotional characteristics

Affilka stands out from other affiliate marketing software providers due to its crucial functional characteristics. It excels in swift business communication at all stages, ensures prompt and high-quality resolution of operational issues via dedicated account managers, and boasts robust functionality tailored to meet essential business requirements.

Anastasia Borovaya, Head of Affilka by SOFTSWISS, comments: “We are truly delighted to receive such a positive evaluation of our efforts. However, it’s crucial to highlight that these surveys primarily aim to identify areas for ongoing improvement. Insights from Kantar’s surveys will guide our future endeavours, enhancing the quality of our products and services. This invaluable feedback serves as a cornerstone in our unwavering dedication to constant improvement.”

The respondents also highlighted key emotional characteristics that have an impact on their choice of platform. The lineup of the most valuable aspects that set the SOFTSWISS affiliate platform apart from competitors covers the following characteristics:

  • Long-term and reliable partnership
  • Top-level service
  • High professionalism and expertise of employees
  • Secure platform solutions

Account manager satisfaction

Noteworthy, 97% of clients expressed satisfaction with the quality of work of Affilka’s account managers. This exceptional rating is attributed to the high level of competence displayed by account managers, coupled with their prompt response and accessibility, which have garnered the highest levels of satisfaction among the clients.

Approximately 44% of respondents engage with their account managers 2–3 times a week. In summary, the noteworthy feedback from the survey participants emphasises that the service completely meets their needs: “Account managers exert consistent effort on a daily basis. Aspire Global Facing Pair of Legal Battles

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Prominent online gaming software and platform provider Aspire Global has been named as the defendant in a pair of court cases that could potentially result in it being ordered to pay compensation totaling up to €101 million ($109 million).

In the first complaint, Aspire Global is being sued in the United Kingdom by the founders of sports betting software, solutions and services provider BtoBet, Alessandro Fried and Igor Lestar, for €36 million ($39 million). This pair inked a deal in 2020 to sell their company to the Malta-based defendant in exchange for an upfront payment of some €20 million ($21.6 million) as well as an earn-out consideration tied to future earnings before tax.

However, Fried and Lestar through their Sousa Enterprises Limited and Eltsar Limited entities are alleging Aspire Global, which was last year acquired by NeoGames as part of a deal worth some €402.3 million ($423.5 million), violated the terms of this share purchase agreement by spending too little and not charging enough so as to deliberately decrease revenues and the subsequent earn-out sum.

The complex case with its many intricacies is not expected to go to trial before 2025 but could well result in Aspire Global being ordered to pay more than the €36 million headline figure. The financial implications are even more concerning as the defendant’s NeoGames parent is currently in the process of being acquired by Aristocrat in an arrangement valued at north of €1 billion.

In the United States and Aspire Global has also been separately named as the offender in an action brought by Ebet Incorporated, which is the operator of the Karamba, Griffon Casino, Hopa, Generation VIP, Scratch2Cash, Gogawi, Dansk 777 and Bet Target iGaming brands. This Nevada action is seeking some €65 million ($70 million) embracing compensatory damages, punitive fines and other financial penalties to be proven at trial and moreover names AG Communications and other affiliated entities as defendants.

Ebet Incorporated acquired specific business-to-consumer (B2C) assets and associated websites from Aspire Global in 2021 and simultaneously entered into a ‘white-label’ operator agreement embracing collaborative efforts on the future running of the purchased assets. The plaintiff is claiming the defendants breached these deals by manipulating their books to falsify and overstate active player data and exaggerate the health of the acquired properties.

As if this wasn’t bad enough, Aspire Global is furthermore being accused by Ebet Incorporated of violating the terms of the agreements by materially failing to maintain necessary operations in Germany, falsifying records and violating industry regulations. The allegations could potentially shape the future trajectories of these companies as they also run to reputational harm, fraud, breach of contract and other unnamed violations due to be proven during the course of the trial.
