This year’s Pocket Gamer Mobile Games Awards winners were announced during an exclusive ceremony on April 20th at BAFTA 195 Piccadilly, London. The global games industry gathered for an evening of celebration to highlight and champion the very best business and individuals who are driving the $90 billion mobile games industry forward.

Steel Media CEO Chris James presented a total of 22 categories throughout the evening and was understandably excited and enthused about the current state of the mobile games industry:

Kiron Interactive has won its first award of the year in the best Fantasy/Virtual Solution category at the Asia Gaming Awards, held at Manilla Marriott hotel, Philippines on March 21.

The lavish annual event forms part of the ASEAN Gaming Summit and aims to create an independent, fair and representative awards event that recognises significant achievements within the Asian gaming industry.

The Awards celebrate operators, regulators, suppliers, and service providers for their outstanding contributions to the industry in their respective fields, in both the online and land-based spheres.

Shortlisted alongside a range of distinguished industry names, Kiron’s win in this category is attributed to its continuous drive to develop unique and innovative virtual games, while providing levels of service its partners have come to rely on.

ICE Landmark Awards to honour inspiring individuals and outstanding brands

Some of the industry’s most influential personalities and best known commercial organisations will be honoured in the ICE Landmark Awards which are being presented in the ICE Lounge, 8th February, (16.00 – 17.00hrs). 

The line-up of Landmark recipients comprise Ernie Stevens, Jr. Chairman and national spokesperson for the Indian Gaming Association (IGA) whose leadership during Covid helped to protect and preserve Tribal Gaming and secure the vital funding needed to keep Tribal Casinos solvent through the worst of the pandemic.

Ernie Stevens is joined by US industry stalwart, Roy Student who in a distinguished 50-year career founded and was President of both Gaming Systems International and Cyberview Technology.

European-based Landmark recipients include veteran industry journalist David Snook who first reported on the exhibition, then known as ATEI, in 1968 and Per Jaldung, who has served as Chair of the European Casino Association since 2015.

The posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award is in honour of Jimmy Thomas who died July 30th 2022 aged 88-years. Jimmy was a pioneer, innovator and philanthropist whose creative spark changed the face of the UK gambling industry. Simon Thomas who is Executive Chairman, The Hippodrome Casino will accept the ICE Landmark in honour of his father.

Five commercial organisations will also be recognised. Les Ambassadeurs will receive a Landmark in recognition of its ground-breaking undertakings in respect to corporate philanthropy and community engagement.  Betson Group which is celebrating its 60th anniversary, TCS John Huxley (50th anniversary), Continent 8 (25th anniversary) and Nanocosmos (25th anniversary) will all receive an ICE Landmark.

Yesterday VIXIO GamblingCompliance announced the winners of its Global Regulatory Awards (GRAs). We were delighted to host more than 350 guests at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in London. The prestigious GRAs recognise and reward individuals and teams who work tirelessly to set new standards in compliance and responsibility within the gambling industry.

Comedian Hugh Dennis was the night’s host and helped present the 20 categories, along withspecial guests. Highlights from the night include wins by Christine Gallo at GLI, David Webb from BetConstruct and Beth Jones at Genting Casinos, all of whom walked away with one of our special individual awards. Meanwhile, Flutter Entertainment had a night to remember, receiving three Global Regulatory Awards including Compliance Team of the Year. We concluded the ceremony with our annual Compliance Lifetime Achievement Special Award, which was awarded to Paul Burns, the CEO of the Canadian Gaming Association.

The TIGA Games Industry Award Winners 2022 are revealed!

The great and the good of the games industry were celebrated at the TIGA Games Industry Awards 2022 last night at the historic Church House Westminster in London.

It was the first in-person awards for TIGA since the COVID-19 pandemic, with over 300 games industry VIPs attending to cheer the games, the studios, the universities and the vital service support companies that have excelled over the past year.

Supermassive Games picked up the prestigious Game of the Year award for The Quarry, with the game also winning Best Audio Design. The studio also snapped up a third award – Creativity in Games – for The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes.

ustwo Games stepped on stage twice, winning Best Small Studio, as well as Best Casual Game for Alba: A Wildlife Adventure.

Rebellion was named Best Large Studio, while Kwalee claimed the award for Best Publisher, and Sumo Group was awarded Outstanding Employer of the Year.

A new category – Commitment to CSR – was introduced for 2022, with PlayStation London Studio the first winner of this important award.

Two individuals were presented with awards during the evening. Karen McLoughlin, Group Director of HR at Sumo Group was presented with the Outstanding Leadership Award. Meanwhile, Dovetail Games’ CEO Jon Rissik was named Outstanding Individual of the Year.

Owing to his contribution to the iGaming landscape in Asia, Japneet Singh Sethi, Country Manager, Khelraja has been awarded with the prestigious Rising Star Award in the Gaming category at the 2nd Edition of The Business Leadership Awards. The award ceremony was held on 29th September at Courtyard by Marriott, Mumbai. Actress Udita Goswami was the celebrity guest on the occasion.
