Microsoft announces Viva Sales, redefining the seller experience and enhancing productivity

    June 17, 2022 Published by Roboticulized.com

On Thursday, Microsoft Corp. announced Microsoft Viva Sales, a new seller experience application. Viva Sales enriches any CRM system with customer engagement data from Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Teams, and leverages AI to provide personalized recommendations and insights for sellers to be more connected with their customers. This helps sellers more seamlessly personalize their customer engagements toward faster deal closure.

Employees are demanding more from their employers in today’s hybrid world — from the tools they use, to the hours and locations they work. This is especially true for salespeople. Viva Sales enables sellers to capture insights from across Microsoft 365 and Teams, eliminate manual data entry, and receive AI-driven recommendations and reminders — all the while staying in the flow of work. Viva Sales streamlines the seller experience by surfacing the insights with the right context within tools salespeople already use, saving sellers time and providing the organization with a more complete view of the customer.

“The future of selling isn’t a new system. It’s bringing the information sellers need at the right time, with the right context, into the tools they know, so their work experience can be streamlined,” said Judson Althoff, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Microsoft. “Empowering sellers to spend more time with their customers has been our goal — and we’ve done that by reimagining the selling experience with Viva Sales.”

“Sellers rely on digital collaboration and productivity tools to connect with customers and close deals, but a lot of the insights they uncover with these tools don’t make it into the CRM,” said Paul Greenberg, founder and managing principal, The 56 Group. “Microsoft is taking on this challenge by offering a solution that complements the CRM. Viva Sales automates the busy work, captures critical information about the customer and helps sellers get the job done.”

    Reimagining the seller experience

Viva Sales builds on Microsoft Viva, which was launched last year. Viva provides an integrated employee experience platform that brings together communications, knowledge, learning, goals and insights to empower every person and team to be their best from anywhere. Viva Sales delivers the first role-based Viva application designed specifically for sellers:

    • Viva Sales provides tools for sellers to do their jobs, while providing the insights that sales leadership needs. As sellers are working, they can tag customers in Outlook, Teams or Office applications like Excel, and Viva Sales will automatically capture it as a customer record, layered with all relevant data about the customer. Being able to automatically capture this level of customer engagement data was not available previously. This data can easily be shared with team members while collaborating in Office and Teams without retyping or looking it up in a CRM.
    • Powered by data and AI, Viva Sales recommends next steps to progress a customer through the sales funnel, prioritizes work and next steps, and enables sellers to access full history and customer interaction materials. Real-time customer insights provide a deeper understanding of where each customer is in their purchase journey, and how to guide the relationship.
    • Viva Sales also provides AI-driven recommendations to enable sellers to enhance their customer engagement — optimizing follow-through with next best steps, actionable reminders, and recommendations to accelerate and close more sales. Viva Sales is using Context IQ, announced last fall, to ensure relevant content is connected across Microsoft apps and services — like Dynamics 365 and Microsoft 365 — so sellers save time and stay in the flow of work.

With Viva Sales, we are creating a new category of application addressing the selling experience. Microsoft is uniquely positioned to offer this type of application within the productivity and collaboration apps employees are already using.

Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sport and Microsoft partner to digitally preserve ancient site of Olympia

    November 10, 2021 Published by Roboticulized.com

The Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sport and Microsoft Corp. on Wednesday announced Ancient Olympia: Common Grounds, a new collaboration to digitally preserve and restore ancient Olympia, the original home of the Olympic games, using AI. This digital revival project allows viewers around the world to explore ancient Olympia as it stood more than 2,000 years ago through an immersive experience via an interactive mobile app, web-based desktop experience, or a Microsoft HoloLens 2 exhibition at the Athens Olympic Museum.

Digitally preserving ancient Olympia gives people a way to walk through the site during one of history’s most important periods — brought to life in a realistic, engaging way that was never before possible. This new form of digital archiving will continue to offer a portal to another era, helping us understand what humanity has achieved in the past and reminding us of what we’re capable of today.

“Ancient Olympia: Common Grounds is a unique way of experiencing Greece’s proud cultural heritage. Visitors around the world can virtually visit the ancient site of Olympia and experience history firsthand using augmented reality technology,” said Kyriakos Mitsotakis, prime minister of Greece.

“The project to digitally preserve ancient Olympia is a stunning achievement in cultural heritage, bringing together humanity and cutting-edge technology to benefit the world and empower coming generations with new ways to explore our past,” said Brad Smith, president and vice chair, Microsoft.

“With the digital representation of the Panhellenic sanctuary of Ancient Olympia, its cultural heritage — but also the values of Olympism, peace, harmony, excellence and noble rivalry — becomes accessible to the whole world through the use of state-of-the-art technology. The digital preservation project, through the use of artificial intelligence and augmented reality technologies, implemented through the cultural sponsorship of Microsoft, promotes and highlights the unique and emblematic archaeological site of Ancient Olympia. This contributes to the research and documentation of monuments, supports the tourism and extroversion of the country as a modern and strong democracy with a long historical and cultural past and unquestionable development dynamics,” said Lina Mendoni, Hellenic Republic Minister of Culture and Sports.

“We thank the Greek government for the trust and the great partnership it took to make this project a reality. I am looking forward to exploring the different ways we can work together to leverage even further Common Grounds to enhance tourism, education and Greece’s brand name to the rest of the world,” said Theodosis Michalopoulos, general manager for Microsoft Greece Cyprus and Malta.

In total, the project digitally preserves 27 monuments at the site, among them the original Olympic Stadium, the temples of Zeus and Hera, and the workshop of the renowned sculptor Phidias. In the 3D experience, these buildings are recreated in lifelike detail, painstakingly researched by the Hellenic Ministry’s expert archaeologists to be as true as possible to their original forms. This includes historical timelines of the site’s changes over time and depictions of artifacts from each period.

Through its AI for Cultural Heritage initiative, Microsoft partnered with technology company Iconem, which specializes in digitizing historic sites in 3D, to create the foundational model of ancient Olympia. Both on-the-ground cameras and drones were used to take hundreds of thousands of images of the site, which Microsoft AI processed to create models so precise, they render as photorealistic.

The collaboration between the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports and Microsoft brought together people from diverse backgrounds — theoretical and technical, like archaeologists and developers — and from various parts of the world to work, find new ways to overcome challenges, and eventually find a common ground to make this project come to life — not just to preserve the past with the use of AI technology but also to drive these principles into the future.

These monuments survived thousands of years of weather, war, earthquakes and modernization, and are in need of digital preservation to ensure that all the evidence of the rich history and civil common ground values that the site was built upon is handed over to future generations.

The web experience may be viewed at olympiacommongrounds.gr, and the app may be downloaded on the iOS and Android app stores.

The Ancient Olympia: Common Grounds Exhibition, featuring the HoloLens 2 Virtual Tour, is now open to the public at the Athens Olympic Museum.

Bobacino Launches Automated Boba Tea Bar to Service a Growing Multibillion-Dollar Market

    November 17, 2020 Published by Roboticulized.com

Today, Bobacino – a start-up bringing the unique boba tea experience to a growing audience of boba aficionados and new enthusiasts through advanced artificial intelligence, automation and robotics – launches on StartEngine to target a market set to hit $8.4 billion by 2024. As operators struggle to keep menus appealing, and consumers seek more customizable beverage choices crafted with minimal contact in a post-pandemic world, Bobacino delivers a fully automated boba tea bar equipped with multiple flavor options and fresh and organic ingredients in a standalone machine. With every trip and every sip, Bobacino aims to give a ‘new normal’ customer a tailored, delicious boba treat.

According to a recent survey, 44% of customers miss trying new dishes and sharing food experiences that restaurants once offered before the pandemic. As foodservice providers seek to retain customers, new personalized options stand to offer a competitive advantage. However, limited time and money to train staff and execute orders make menu expansion nearly impossible. In fact, major quick-service restaurant brands have been forced to trim down their menus to stay profitable amid the industry-threatening pandemic. Faced with less labor capacity in a socially distanced kitchen, growing drive-thru lines and expanding delivery demand, operators have slashed menu options by 7% and looked to minimize customization to expedite production, based on recent industry report findings.

The global boba tea market is currently worth over $5.3 billion, and it is projected to hit $8.4 billion by 2024. The time-honored tradition has been attracting an expanding base as consumers venture out to try new products and choose operators that offer customizable options unique to their lifestyle. According to the Tea Association of the U.S.A., 87% of American millennials drink tea, and a recent study on delivery orders found that brown sugar milk (bubble tea) was among the most ordered food items in the U.S. in 2019, growing 281% from the previous year.

Just as the boba market is projected to expand quickly by 2024, the global food automation market is also exploding. Analysts anticipate the market will reach $14.3 billion by 2025. The rapid adoption of automation across new food categories is being primarily driven by increasing food safety regulations and new technological advancements in the food industry. In fact, 95% of restaurant owners said in a recent survey that they have seen a significant boom in their business since they have embedded technology in their processes. Customers are looking toward low-touch solutions, like automatically prepared food items, in a new era where concerns over exposure to pathogens has heightened. Survey findings show that while 80% of customers had a desire to avoid restaurants during the pandemic, 66% had an increased likelihood to order from a restaurant, should they have active communication of implemented safety measures.

“We are seeing robots and automation offer a path for operators facing pandemic challenges and the ordering concerns customers have today,” said Darian Ahler, CEO of Bobacino. “Through Bobacino’s fully automated boba tea bar, consumers are able to enjoy a beverage prepared by an entirely touchless and AI-powered robot – minimizing exposure to pathogens, while providing them with a drink designed to taste the way they want it to taste. It’s fresh, it’s flavorful and a unique experience. Boba is unlike any other drink out there, and the future of beverage automation is upon us. Bringing a beloved beverage together with robotics is truly exciting. We want to make boba more accessible to those who regularly enjoy the boba experience and open the door for more consumers to give boba a try, without concerns of contamination. They can sip safely with Bobacino. At first pour, we aim to make a memorable boba moment come to life for a ‘new normal’ world.”

Bobacino is backed by lead investors Wavemaker Partners, a global venture capital fund with $400M AUM, and Wavemaker Labs, an automation-focused venture studio, and Embark Ventures, a venture capital firm in Los Angeles with a strong focus on AI and Robotics. The company features a seasoned team of robotics and food experts made up of executives and founders from Miso Robotics, SpaceX and Microsoft. The company is launching its seed capital raise on equity crowdfunding site StartEngine, targeting a $3 million raise. Through equity crowdfunding, any individual can invest in the company without large upfront costs. The democratized venture capital model allows everyday investors to be pioneers in the most cutting-edge technologies like robotics, automation and artificial intelligence.
