The iGaming revolution begins: MGA Games reveals its proposals for the sector in 2024

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Today, MGA Games celebrated its annual MGA Games Day. The fourth edition of this online event, with the motto The Revolution Begins. The event saw the company present its strategic plan for 2024. An ambitious roadmap that will consolidate its position as an international benchmark in the production and distribution of localised slot games for global operators.

A plan that looks to further strengthen the internationalisation of MGA Games, this time in North American markets, with strategic alliances and global exclusivity agreements; an ambitious expansionboth in terms of quantity and quality, of its content catalogue; a commitment to localised slot games, the continued promotion of the Celebrities collection so popular with players and much more.

The event, which connected aggregators, distributors, and online casino operators from around the world, began with an introduction from Joan Sanahuja, founder, and CEO of MGA Games, who was enthusiastic about the results achieved in 2023 and what’s instore for 2024. “This year, we have achieved great challenges that tell us we are doing things right. We have consolidated our commitment to a greater international reach by establishing ourselves in European markets. Our next step is the United States and Canada,” he confirmed.

With over 20 years of experience, the company “not only leads the Spanish market with a market penetration of 99% and 15% market share but has already positioned itself as a leading global provider of innovative and quality content,” Sanahuja explained.

“Our story began in a small studio and has grown beyond what we imagined. I am proud of what we have created, and very excited about what awaits us. But we have not built all this alone. We have built it with you. And now the time has come to take the next step, dedicating more energy than anyone else in achieving something unique,” said an excited Sanahuja.

Next, José Antonio GiacomelliConsejero Delegado of the Online Division of the MGA Group, detailed the company’s news and plans for next year. In 2024, MGA Games will be focusing on strategic markets such as Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Sweden, Italy and Denmark, launching up to 52 new productions and releasing a game every week.

The company continues to bet on the attractive Megaways slot game productions, creating its own new collection with titles such as Take de Money, Chef’s Delights, Sweet Fortune, and Golden Ocean.

MGA Games continues to place great importance on its international content with IPs (Intellectual Property) in its productions catalogue: the successful Celebrities localised slot games for each market, with customised and themed games such as Chiquito Olimpiadas and Barragán 2 Cabalgata de Reyes.

In addition, the new Seasonal Collection will be created, with new games going on sale during the main international festive times of the year, such as Valentine’s Day, Easter, Halloween, and Christmas.

MGA Games will also make a special effort to promote the Video Bingo market, a product that is increasingly in demand worldwide. “We can exclusively say that we are now the first provider to certify Video Bingo in Portugal,” said Giacomelli at the end of his speech.

But the news doesn’t end here. Daniel Nugent, Account Manager Coordinator at MGA Games, announced the launch of the Epic Slots Collection, innovations for the most outstanding and charismatic games of the year, which include titles such as Alchemy Riches, La Leyenda del Mariachi Picante and Las Tres Fuerzas de El Dorado. In addition, there will be the Spanish Land-Based Collection, bringing successful land-based slot games to the digital world, including the already revered Lucky Player. And two Golden Edition games: the new Mina de Oro Plus and the renewed version of the classic RFranco game, Gnomos Mix, updated to satisfy players expectations.

Nugent ended his presentation by announcing that for 2024, a new Bespoke Content service will be available to operators, on-demand design allowing for personalised and tailored content.

Next, Javier Lanfranchi, Sales Director at MGA Games, once again highlighted the most exciting news for the year: the company’s move into North America, producing games for the United States and Canada. He added that the company will also have a license for Malta, allowing them to offer content under this jurisdiction. Finally, Lanfranchi announced the launch of the company’s new promotional tools, such as internal lobby, multi-ratio, multi-volatility, turbo upload and AI in design quality as well as marketing tools, featuring tournaments, achievements, rankings, free spins, and high bonuses.

The MGA Games Day 2023 ended with a surprise visit from the Netherland celebrity Bobbie Eden, who accompanied Joan Sanahuja during the farewell of the event, exclaiming emphatically: “The revolution begins at MGA Games!”

Soft2Bet’s SiGMA presence once again a great success

SiGMA Malta Europe was once again a great success for Soft2Bet as the company showcased its leading iGaming solutions to delegates from 14-16 November
With more than 5,000 daily visitors attending the event, Soft2Bet executives met with partners and contacts to share insights and conduct business in the company’s brand-new double-decker stand.
Packed with futuristic designs, huge LED screens and meeting rooms to host private discussions, the Soft2Bet stand held center stage in the Mediterranean Maritime Hub (MMH), the new venue that hosted SiGMA.

The event was a great opportunity for Soft2Bet to demonstrate its commitment to the iGaming community with long-term projects backed up by state-of-the-art products and technology.

Soft2Bet’s SiGMA Highlights included: Motivational Engineering: Soft2Bet CEO Uri Poliavich gave the keynote on Wednesday 15 November and explained how our gamification features enable operators to generate major revenue and engagement boosts, but were also key tools in helping them compete with the social media giants for players’ attention.

Uri commented: “Suppliers and operators compete against each other every day, but actually we’re competing against the likes of TikTok, Instagram and Youtube for players’ attention. This can be done by offering personalisation features, collectables, leaderboards or City Builder mechanics that prolong players’ daily activities, but also provide long-term goals over the course of many months that they can work towards.”

Noting the financial benefits Soft2Bet’s gamification features, Uri added: “The average GGR per player on gamified brands increased by 65% and deposit amounts were up 42%, but just as important, player screen time is up 300%, four times higher than other operators.”

During his panel on European regulation, David Yatom Hay, General Counsel at Soft2Bet, said: “Regulatory expansion is a key strategic target for Soft2Bet and that will continue going into 2024. Adapting to the evolving landscape across Malta and European markets is a key part of our work.”

Driving Soft2Bet’s commercial efforts, Chief Business Development Officer Martin Collins welcomed partners, contacts and prospects at our brand new stand. He commented: “This year’s event was a great success and it was fantastic to meet so many contacts to discuss new features and projects to expand our partners’ activities whilst maintaining continual growth.”

DOJ Accredits PAGCor’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCor)’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program has received recognition from the Department of Justice (DOJ) for achieving a high mediation success rate.

The recognition makes PAGCOR and the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines the only government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs) to have earned such accreditation from the DOJ.

During the recognition ceremony held today, November 22, 2023, at the PAGCor Executive Office at New Coast Manila, DOJ Undersecretary Atty. Irene de Torres-Alogoc said they were impressed by the high success rate of PAGCor’s mediation program.

“We were surprised by PAGCor’s high success rate,” said Torres-Alogoc. “We hope to have more (success) because when there are disputes in an agency, it is hard to work. It affects the productivity of the office itself.”

In its certificate of recognition, the DOJ’s Office for Alternative Dispute Resolution (OADR) said PAGCor has effectively ‘complied with the requirements set forth under the OADR Accreditation Guidelines for Alternative Dispute Resolution Organizations and Training Standards for Alternative Dispute Resolution Practitioners in the field of Mediation’.”

The gaming agency’s accreditation will be valid until 2024.

PAGCor’s Public Alternative Dispute Resolution Program was formed in compliance with Republic Act 9285, also known as the Alternative Dispute Resolution Act of 2004, and Executive Order No. 97, s. 2012, which mandates government agencies to establish a system to resolve disputes filed before them.

The program aims to mitigate and avoid animosity between or among PAGCor personnel and other parties that, if not properly addressed, may result in the elevation of the disputes to the courts.

Some of the most common cases being mediated under the program are alimony, spousal and child support, non-payment of just debts, among others.

SuperScale report reveals game development’s mortality rate – overwhelming majority die within 3 years!

The SuperScale Good Games Don’t Die white paper reveals 83% of mobile games die in 3 years and 43% are killed in development

SuperScale, the revenue growth engine for mobile games, today unveils startling new research about the mortality rate of mobile games development. Based on data from SuperScale’s Good Games Don’t Die white paper published today, it reveals that a staggering 83% of launched games die within three years, and 43% of games are killed in development before they launch, clearly illustrating significant issues prevalent in contemporary mobile game development.

The new study draws on interviews conducted with 500 game developers across the UK and US, carried out by Atomik Research on behalf of SuperScale. The report reveals that regardless of this critical high failure rate, 78% of mobile game developers prefer to work on new titles, creating a catch-22 scenario for the $96.2 billion international mobile games industry. Trends like global recessionary pressures, the redundancy of 6,000+ developers in 2023, and a general downturn in investment throughout the sector are echoed in the report in which 32% of developers conducted layoffs, and nearly a quarter came close to shutting down the business.

The report’s findings also provide insights into the human impact of the high failure rate of mobile games; ranging from loss of motivation, risk aversion and increased commercial focus. Creative unfulfillment from cancellations was reported by 30% of junior developers with less than one year of experience.

Given the endemic high failure rate in mobile gaming, the SuperScale white paper explores the untapped opportunities present in the ‘good games’ that died either in development or since launch. These ‘legacy games’ are titles that no longer receive regular UA investments or live-op updates, or those that are declining in revenue. Based on the study data, a mobile gaming portfolio features an average of 18 legacy games, and these could hold significant further commercial potential for developers and publishers. Across its 18 pages, the Good Games Don’t Die white paper unveils current trends in additional categories such as outsourcing, performance measurement, and monetization methods, which can be utilized to unlock the potential of good games which ‘died’.

Ivan Trancik, CEO and Founder of SuperScale, commented:

“These are volatile times for the games industry. Many mobile game developers are finding it hard to remain profitable in the face of challenges such as ATT, heavy competition in a mature mobile market, and macroeconomic conditions like high inflation. 83% of games are flat-lining in the first three years is an eye-opening statistic, which indicates a new mindset is needed within the industry. Findings from the ‘Good Games Don’t Die’ white paper serve as a wake-up call for the industry, a source of inspiration with actionable data; equipping developers and publishers with insight on how revenue can be maximized across their portfolio – for games both new and old.”

He added:

“The art and business of making games is often borne from a place of indescribable passion, and not always for pure commercial gain. We believe there is an opportunity for the entire games industry to reflect on the incredible gaming content that has already been created, and to take a second look at what can be done to inject new life into them.”

To hear more from Ivan, sign up here and catch the SuperScale team’s deep-dive on how to fix underperforming mobile games.

Key findings:

Recession in Gaming: 32% of studios have made layoffs in the past 12 months, 40% of studios have outsourced development tasks in the last 12 months. Collectible card games and hypercasual developers were affected most. Only a third of studios (32%) said they did not have to make layoffs, downsize or shut down.

Monetizing mobile games: 62% of developers are using LiveOps in their most profitable titles, and 37% of studios update their most profitable titles weekly, with less than half pushing out monthly updates.

Game failure and success: 43% of games in development are killed before they launch, 76% of launched games hit peak revenue within year one, 83% of mobile games die within three years and a mere 5% receive support beyond seven years.

Passion versus profit: 78% of developers prefer to work on new titles, 30% of developers believe a focus on legacy games is the path forward in the current industry climate. 37% of respondents said that industry uncertainty is stopping them from developing new games, while 30% said the market is too difficult to succeed in right now, and 30% also believe their niche is too competitive.

Christmas-themed release offers free spins in Bonus Game alongside bonus buy feature

Independent slots studio Thunderkick is decking the halls with even more gold in Midas: Golden Touch Christmas Edition, a festive-themed version of one of its top-performing titles.

The title sees players transported to the familiar pantheon of the Greek king, this time adorned in Christmas decorations including trees and twinkling lights. The game grid remains at a 5×3 size, featuring symbols such as crowns, chalices and Midas himself.

Wild symbols, in the form of Midas’ golden hands, can substitute for any regular pay symbol. Any payline that includes a Wild will gain a multiplier, with a maximum value of 32x depending on how many land.
