LeoVegas is starting its own game studio, Blue Guru Games, to develop new, innovative games. The studio will develop exclusive games for LeoVegas and will also offer games to other operators. The first games will be released in late 2021.

LeoVegas Mobile Gaming Group has, through LeoVentures, started the game studio Blue Guru Games and LeoVegas’ share of ownership in 85%. From the start the company will have a team with more than 20 years of experience in game development and will draw upon all of the experience and knowledge of LeoVegas. The studio will develop and offer games both for the Group’s own brands and for other game operators. The ambition is to produce at least 20 games in the coming 24 months through Blue Guru Games.

“For a long time we have created exclusive games with the help of external providers, but now the time is right to take the step to do game development entirely on our own,” comments Gustaf Hagman, Group CEO, LeoVegas. “Drawing from our data and casino knowledge we will be able to drive innovation and create games that our customers truly enjoy. These may be everything from niche, local games for individual markets to broad international games. In addition, we will create games and unique characters that can be used in our marketing, which will build stronger loyalty to our brands. Having great flexibility in producing games is a competitive advantage, and it will also give us a new revenue stream over time.”

Blue Guru Games will complement the games from the other 60 casino game providers that LeoVegas has access to today. The first games from the studio are expected to be released towards the end of 2021. The transaction will strengthen the focus and ambition of the respective business units. 

Stadtcasino Baden Group already holds, through Grand Casino Baden AG, 50% stake in Gamanza Group, which was founded by Swedish iGaming entrepreneur Magnus Lindberg. The group develops and distributes software that forms the technological basis for the operation of an online casino. This includes the platform (“Player Account Management System”), which manages the accounts of online players and provides the interfaces to other software modules and the individual online games. Another central element is the “Customer Engagement Platform”, a CRM tool that man-ages marketing activities and customer communication in real time.

Games and sports betting to be transferred to a new company structure of Magnus Lindberg

Stadtcasino Baden Group and Magnus Lindberg have agreed that the excellent starting position of Gamanza Group can be best leveraged by the two owners dividing the business units.

The two business units of game development and sports betting will be fully owned by Manus Lind-berg and continue operations under his management. Stadtcasino Baden Group will take over the units of Player Account Management System and Customer Engagement Platform and continue to manage these under the Gamanza brand.

Strong growth over the last two years

As part of the split, Grand Casino Baden AG is taking responsibility for around 60 employees of the Gamanza Group who work at the offices in Slovenia and Costa Rica, while around 30 employees at the locations in Serbia, Sweden and Malta will move with Magnus Lindberg.

Gamanza Group has grown rapidly over the past 24 months. Three years past the signing of our first Fortnite duo we decided to temporarily leave the discipline.

Sergey Glamazda, CEO of Virtus.pro: “Leaving the discipline was a tough decision to make, as we had a team of very talented and charismatic people. I’m not only talking about the players, but content creators, managers, and everyone involved. Not to mention that I’ve always been happy with our sports performance.

There are several reasons for this outcome. Firstly, the Fortnite ecosystem mostly revolves around players. Competitive scene and Creator Code feature are turning organizations into something unnecessary. Secondly, the audience of this game mostly consists of very young people, which is not necessarily a good thing when it comes to sponsorship deals. And some categories of sponsors are straight-up denied by the publisher.

The situation can always change and we can come back to Fortnite. But as of now, I’d like to thank our fans who supported us all the way and also the players who brought us a lot of joyful memories and highlights.”
