Indus Battle Royale Pre-Registrations to Cross One Million, Community Playtest 3 Date Revealed

Made-in-India battle royale Indus will have its third playtest in February. Developed by Pune-based SuperGaming, Indus is slated for mobile, PC, and consoles with pre-registrations live on Google Play for Android. Pre-registrations for the game began on January 26, India’s Republic Day and are en route to cross one million shortly.

“To celebrate the community’s love and support for Indus, we felt that it’s time to take it to India’s fastest-growing city, Surat,” says SuperGaming co-founder and CEO Roby John. “Our previous playtests had us get valuable feedback from players in Pune and Bengaluru which helped us make a better game, now it’s time to see what some of the more hardcore battle royale players in the country think.”

Like prior playtests, this is an invite-only event so sign up for access and other crucial details like timing via this form. The community will be able to play the game on February 25 in Surat at White Orange Software.

During this community playtest, players will get access to the latest build of Indus and play a few rounds of the game with the developers and fellow community members. Here are some of the changes and additions compared to the second community playtest held in November in Bengaluru:

PUBG MOBILE has officially unveiled its first-ever esports partnership program, the PUBG MOBILE Partnership Program, which will help pro teams grow their competitiveness, popularity, and contribution to the PUBG MOBILE ecosystem. The program will kick off in Southeast Asia, with PMSL SEA. With guaranteed slots for PMPL and PMSL SEA, fans and teams alike will benefit from this new chapter in PUBG MOBILE Esports. PMSL SEA will kick off in March with a Spring Season, with the Fall Season taking place in August.

The PMSL will bring together top pro teams in each region, increasing opportunities for pro players and bringing more amazing action to fans. Teams that join the PMSL will grow together as official partners of PUBG MOBILE, increasing their exposure to fans and building their competitive performance. League partnership also comes with guaranteed slots in a team’s respective PMPL and PMSL region.

Based on their performance in both seasons of the PMPL and PMSL, the top teams will be promoted to PUBG MOBILE Global Championship (PMGC).

India: MNS General Secretary Manoj Chavan Writes to State Govt to Implement Casinos Act

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) general secretary Manoj Chavan has addressed a letter to the state government requesting it to formulate a gaming policy for revenue generation and allowing gaming zones in the state.

In the letter, Chavan emphasised that allowing gaming zones will lead to revenue and employment generation in the state. He stated that the neighbouring state of Goa has six offshore and eight onshore casinos which give a boost to its tourism industry, ultimately leading to greater revenue generation.

Chavan gave the example of Sikkim stating that it has a five-star hotel casino while Maharashtra, despite being the most advanced state in the country, falls behind on this front due to its regressive mentality.

The MNS general secretary had pressed on this matter last year in November as well by saying that Maharashtra can also make good use of its coastal belt and set up casinos to make the state a tourist hotspot like Goa.

The Maharashtra Casinos (Control and Taxation) Act, 1976 that was passed on 19 July 1976 is not being implemented according to Chavan. Rules under the Act are yet to be framed and notified. He also asked about the status of the study group that was formed for visiting Goa, Macau, Nepal, Sikkim and report back their findings.

Chavan also stated that several welfare policies are facing fund shortages. As a result, the state government cannot afford to ignore the potential of casinos.

The MNS general secretary mentioned a study by American company “Global Market Advisors” which stated that setting up casinos in Maharashtra can generate around $1.1 billion in revenue and with 28% GST levied on the industry, the government can earn $308 million in tax revenue in addition to earning recurring and non-recurring revenues through license fees from casino operators.

By setting up tourism, entertainment, hospitality-related services the state can create massive employment which can put Maharashtra on the global tourism map.

PAGCOR revives nationwide photography contest with over P1.6 million in cash prizes

After six years of hiatus, the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) is reviving its nationwide photography contest for amateur and professional photographers – but this time, with bigger prizes at stake.

With the theme, “Sa’n Tayo Next?”, the PAGCOR Photography Contest 2023 aims to highlight the unadulterated, yet equally beautiful places in the Philippines with tourism potential.

The photography contest will formally commence on February 15, 2023.

PAGCOR’s Assistant Vice President for Corporate Communications Carmelita Valdez said the state-run gaming agency will once again give both newbies and seasoned lensmen a chance to showcase the beauty of the Philippines and win generous cash prizes.

“We will be giving away a total of P1.6 million in cash prizes to the winners and grand finalists, so hopefully we can encourage participants from our previous photography competitions as well as aspiring ones who are searching for a medium to show the images captured by their cameras and latest mobile devices. Also, this event hopes to pay homage to the talent of Filipino lensmen while inspiring more local and foreign tourists to explore some of the underrated destinations in the Philippines,” she said.

Valdez explained that the competition’s theme, ‘Sa’n Tayo Next?’ is the common question that tourists and travelers would ask each other after having an amazing experience in a place they just visited.

“The excitement of travel inspires them to immediately begin planning for the next trip. We hope that this photo contest will help boost our tourism sector that is now recovering from the ill-effects of the pandemic,” she added.
PAGCOR’s Photography Contest 2023 will have two categories – Conventional Category (includes photos taken using all types of traditional or conventional cameras like Single Lens Reflex or Digital SLR, compact cameras and the like) and Mobile Category (photos taken using apps in all types of mobile devices like smartphones, tablets, drone-mounted cameras and action cameras).
Deadline for submission of entries will be on July 31, 2023. Participants who want to join the contest must be 18 years old and above. They may submit up to two entries under one category or one entry for each category.

There will be 12 grand winners for the conventional category who will each receive P80,000, while the 12 grand winners for the mobile category will take home P35,000 each.

The 16 non-winning grand finalists will also get consolation prizes (P25,000 for the conventional while P10,000 for the mobile category). A special cash prize of P10,000 will also be awarded to the “Most Liked Photo” in each category.

This is the 5th time that the agency will be holding its nationwide photography contest. PAGCOR began holding its photo contest in 2013.

Leading Indian game developer SuperGaming has revealed the first gameplay trailer for its upcoming Indo-Futuristic battle royale Indus to celebrate India’s Republic Day of January 26, 2023.

To launch the gameplay trailer, the company released a series of high-impact takeovers across the biggest locations in London. This is in line with SuperGaming’s vision of putting India on the global gaming map much like its previous Indus trailer launch at New York’s Times Square to mark India’s Independence Day of August 15, 2022.

“As we’ve been making Indus and seeing its gameplay evolve over the year, we wanted to share it with the rest of the world,” says SuperGaming co-founder and CEO Roby John. “This gameplay trailer is for the Indus community the world over that may not have been able to play it with us and to show off the true scale of battle royale that we want you to have when the game is out.”

The trailer entices players to discover, loot, and win on Virlok — the game’s island map, all while showcasing Indus’ weapons, Paragons (the game’s character skins), and traversal. It also highlights multiple locations and firefights with an intent of showing the scope and size of the battle royale experience SuperGaming aims to provide.
