NordicBet creates new brand identity and concept – “Makes sports bigger”

Reading Time: 2 minutes

NordicBet is launching a new communication concept and a new brand identity. The concept, ”Makes sports bigger”, aims to strengthen the brand’s position in the Nordics not only by showing its passion for sport, but also by representing the supporters’ passion for sport in a unique and different way. The new concept is the first example of our new international design and creative hub, which aims to streamline and scale the company’s work within brand identity and design across Betssons markets. NordicBet is first out, but we will see more brands within the Group supported by the Global Brand & Creative team led by our Director of Brand and Creative, Kay Hook.

“With our new international design hub we will be able to leverage marketing campaigns across brands and markets, creating synergies and efficiencies across the Group. The Nordics are first out with this kind of collaboration, and other markets will follow,” says Ronni Hartvig CCO Betsson Group.

NordicBet was one of the first sports betting brands in the Nordics to offer bets beyond the big top leagues. The brand quickly became a favourite among sports fans. The brand is now taking new steps to further strengthen its identity with a more cross-market approach.

“Like the soccer player, the hockey player or the handball player, many of the supporters and fans have their own routines, or even rituals, which they believe they must do to support their team. It can be wearing the team’s shirt, putting on lucky socks or having the same match day routines; all to support their team and doing whatever it takes to win. That perception is the starting point for NordicBet’s new campaign. But we have taken this a little further, adding true feelings, sometimes uncommon rituals and friendships, that Makes sports bigger,” says Kay Hook Director of Brand and Creative.

The concept is launched, among other things, with the new TV commercial above will consolidate NordicBet as the obvious place for sports lovers to enhance their experience. The concept has been developed in collaboration with the advertising agency Hong Kong. The award-winning Danish director Jeppe Rønde, known for the film Almost Human with Stephen Fry, and the production company Bacon have also been involved in NordicBet’s new TV commercial.

Avalanche Studios Group Chair Robert Henrysson joins Nordisk Games

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Nordisk Games today announced the appointment of Robert Henrysson as its latest Partner, following the recent appointments of Audrey Leprince and Ebba Ljungerud. Robert has a wealth of experience in the games industry, most recently as the Chairperson of Avalanche Studios Group, the team behind theHunter: Call of the Wild, and the developer behind the acclaimed Just Cause series and Mad Max game, which was acquired by Nordisk Games in 2018.

In his new role, Robert will work with the investment team to scope new opportunities and build relationships with existing and new partners.

Robert has plenty of entrepreneurial experience from both inside and outside the games industry, starting with the roleplaying and board game store he launched whilst still at university. He was the founder of the Swedish gaming magazine Saga and also worked for Cap Gemini where he ran the Global Media Practice for the group. In 2002, he co-founded Jadestone Group, one of the early pioneers in mobile gaming and the team behind the online version of the popular sport sim Championship Manager. Robert also co-founded the children’s game developer Filimundus (Pippi Longstocking, Pettson & Findus). More recently, Robert has sat on the advisory board of Bornholm Game Days, an invitation-only event for leaders in gaming to discuss game development and how to tackle important cross-industry issues.

Nordisk Games was founded in 2016 to make games with the best game companies in Europe, and to date, its portfolio is made up of Avalanche Studios Group, Star Stable Entertainment, MercurySteam, Nitro Games and Flashbulb Games. The company also recently completed its full acquisition of the BAFTA-winning studio Supermassive Games, the developers behind critically-acclaimed narrative games Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology.

“Aside from working in a great team with great clients, what really drew me to Nordisk Games was the company’s values; championing key issues in the games industry and also dedicating a portion of its turnover to charity every year. As a team, I know they are always on hand to offer strategic support, but they also strongly believe in giving partners the autonomy to create their own vision and develop the games they want to – which is hugely exciting,” said Robert Henrysson, Partner at Nordisk Games.

“Each of our recent new team members brings a wealth of experience in games, a new perspective and a new set of skills for our partners to utilise, and Robert’s no exception. I have no doubt he’ll help us continue making connections, building relationships and supporting great teams in making the best games they possibly can. The expertise we’ve gathered will continue to be one of our strongest assets in the years to come,” said Mikkel Weider, CEO of Nordisk Games.

Denmark to Introduce New Digital ID Rules in July

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Denmark will introduce new rules regarding electronic ID for online gambling on 1 July, announced Spillemyndigheden, the Danish Gambling Authority (DGA).

MitID, Denmark’s new digital identification scheme, will finally phase out the country’s current system, NemID, this summer.

This has been in place for over a decade and is used to access online banking, government websites and certain digital services, such as online gambling. But NemID, which translates to EasyID in English, will soon be phased out, to be replaced by MitID: MyID.

This has been developed by the Danish government, in partnership with the private sector, to satisfy new security requirements and incorporate more advanced technology.

Operators will be required to transition to MitID, though the DGA has said a short grace period until NemID is phased out will grant licensees some time to switch.

It said: “The Danish Gambling Authority notes that it is possible to use both NemID and MitID until NemID is phased out, which means that licence holders will have a period to implement the changes that MitID requires.”

This change has been made necessary by an update to section 7 of Executive Order no. 1274 and Executive Order no. 1276, which cover online casino and online betting respectively.

These both state that “the electronic ID must be an electronic ID from a Danish national identification scheme, or an electronic ID approved by the Danish Gambling Authority.”

MitID was originally scheduled to launch in May 2021, but was delayed. The DGA said it will publish a newsletter and update its guide on betting and online casino “as soon as possible.”
