Spotlight Sports Group Produces In-depth Look at the Betting Technology Ecosystem

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Spotlight Sports Group releases the inaugural edition of ‘BetTech Ecosystem’, a research piece reviewing the major suppliers across the sports betting and iGaming industry.

Spotlight Sports Group (SSG), a leading technology, content and media company specialising in sports betting and fantasy sports has today released its inaugural review of the sports betting industry ‘BetTech Ecosystem 2021’.

At the centre of the research is a visual that showcases six segments (platform providers, trading, e-commerce, data, content and iGaming) and the major businesses that feature in each. The research summarises who the suppliers are across the industry and highlights the extensive M&A that has taken place in recent years.

The study was conducted internally by a team of Spotlight Sports Group researchers and with the support of independent industry experts. The research focuses on the regulated European and North American markets.

Discussing the first edition of the ‘BetTech Ecosystem’, Spotlight Sports Group Head of B2B Marketing, Alan Davis said: “What we’ve created is a state-of-play overview of the major suppliers in Q4 2021 as a visual and report, allowing industry professionals a chance to view the sector from a number of different perspectives.’’

Davis continued: “What is most interesting from the research is how the major players have been growing the number of segments they’re in through innovation or acquisition. It’s striking when you view how some businesses feature multiple times and that is sure to grow. The pace of change within the industry has presented significant challenges while compiling the visual, in what we believe to be the first of its kind for the iGaming industry.”

Sportradar Earns International Betting Integrity Association’s Data Standards Accreditation and Kitemark

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Sportradar Group AG, the leading global sports technology company creating immersive experiences for sports fans and bettors, today announced that it has been granted the International Betting Integrity Association’s (IBIA) Data Standards Kitemark, one of the industry’s highest accreditation related to the quality assurance processes related to the collection of data for the purposes of sports betting. Sportradar earned the honor following an audit assessed by eCommerce and Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance (eCOGRA), a leading independent and internationally recognized agency specializing in the testing, inspection and certification of online gambling software and systems.

Developed in October 2020, the IBIA’s Data Standards Kitemark is the industry’s first set of standards and guidelines for how data is collected to protect the integrity of sports against betting corruption and is subject to an annual audit. The Data Standards is a living document and set of requirements which the association intends to continually assess and update to ensure that its recipients represent the highest levels of data collation. The IBIA is a leading global voice on integrity for the licensed betting industry and represents many of the largest regulated sports betting operators in the world.

Dr. Anja Martin, Chief Regulatory & Compliance Officer, Sportradar said: “At Sportradar, we are committed to delivering the most reliable and highest-quality data products to our customers and partners. We invest heavily in our quality control systems and processes, implementing the industry’s most stringent safeguards to ensure that the products presented to the downstream market are trustworthy. Receiving accreditation from the IBIA for its Data Standards Kitemark further substantiates Sportradar’s rigorous dedication to data quality, integrity and transparency.”

Khalid Ali, IBIA CEO said: “We are excited to recognize Sportradar as our latest Data Standards Kitemark recipient. The IBIA developed the Standards and Kitemark to ensure that the collection and supply chain of sports data achieved the highest levels of transparency and accuracy. Companies like Sportradar that pass the audit have demonstrated robust internal procedures for the collation of sporting event data for betting. Accurate data collation reassures sports fans and bettors alike that the events they watch are fair, honest and performed at the highest competitive levels.”

In 2021 alone, Sportradar has established new partnerships with several major leagues and federations for betting data collection and/or integrity services, including the National Hockey League (NHL), International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), and the European Handball Federation (EHF).

Sportradar operates five data collection centers which are strategically located around the world to provide 24/7 uptime and is supported by over 700 data experts, all ISO 9001 certified for Quality Management. These data collection methods are enhanced by in-stadium verification technology and augmented by direct feeds from sports leagues, computer vision and AI technology. With up to 30 million odds changes per minute, across more than 40 languages served, and with 99.9% proven accuracy, the dependability of Sportradar’s products drives customer trust.

SOFTSWISS Sportsbook Launches New Bonus Type

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The SOFTSWISS Sportsbook is expanding its list of available bonus offers with a new bonus type – Hunting. Three different types of Freebet were already available to users earlier this year: No Risk, AllWin and OnlyWin. New functionality, together with existing features, will help the platform’s clients to customise the bonus program, increase player involvement and loyalty.

The new Hunting bonus type will be the first of its kind in the betting market. Its launch is a logical extension to the SOFTSWISS Sportsbook’s bonus range, allowing players to win even more free bets and make the game itself more exciting. The operator will be able to optimise the new bonus offer for different player groups, as it supports all triggers and platform groups with a huge amount of customisation.

A player makes a deposit and receives a percentage of the deposit or a fixed amount in a given currency. The bigger the deposit the bigger the bonus amount, but the operator determines this limit. The player can convert the currency received into free bet coupons of varying values.

To gain access to the free bets, the player must make regular bets, for which they will receive bonus money. Once the bonus amount equals the player’s average wager, the player will receive a free bet coupon equal in value to their average wager. At the same time, the accumulated bonus money will be deducted from their original bonus account, received when making the deposit.

For example, a player deposits $100, for which they receive $200 in bonus currency. The average bet is equal to $5, and for each such bet, the player receives one credit. After calculating the fifth bet, they receive a $5 free bet. Also, 5 bonus dollars will be deducted from the bonus account. As a result, the player will still have $195 in bonus currency to wager.

It turns out that the higher the average wager the higher the value of the free bet. It also worth noting is that the new bonus type is compatible with cryptocurrencies.

Alexander Kamenetskyi, Product Owner at SOFTSWISS Sportsbook, comments: “We hope that the new bonus type will be a pleasant surprise for all Sportsbook users. Hunting bonuses are the first of their kind in the betting market and are developed to delight operators and players alike. For the former, this will help expand the platform functionality, while for the latter it will bring even more fun and excitement while playing. Hunting bonuses, as well as others in our system, work with all triggers and player groups and have a very flexible system of values, odds, events, and expiry dates. Therefore, they will cater to a wide variety of betting needs and are useful for beginners and experienced players alike. Enjoy the game!”

Tennis provided the highest number of alerts during the first three quarters with 47, followed by football with 46, table tennis 33 and esports with 25 cases. These four sports made up 90% of alerts reported in the first nine-months.

“The benefits of being part of an international integrity monitoring body continue to be recognised; the association welcomes the decision of the Ontario authorities to require all licensed betting operators to be part of an integrity monitoring body, a position which is already in force in the recently opened market in the Netherlands. IBIA members are well-placed in those markets.”

Other key data for Q3 2021:

  • 28 – different countries where alerts were reported
  • 23 – alerts reported in Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Russia (more than one third of the Q3 total)

Its monitoring and alert platform is a highly effective anti-corruption tool that detects and reports suspicious activity on its members’ betting markets. The association has longstanding information sharing partnerships with leading sports and gambling regulators to utilise its data and prosecute corruption. It represents the sector at high-level policy discussion forums such as the IOC, UN, Council of Europe and European Commission.

Super League & Betfred extend record breaking partnership

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Super League Europe and Betfred have announced a two-year extension to their existing partnership taking it through to the end of the 2023 season.

The extension of a deal that began ahead of the 2017 season will take the overall partnership to seven years, equalling the longest title partnership in Super League history.

Since the Betfred partnership began, there have been many unforgettable moments in the competition. The 2017 season saw Castleford Tigers overcome St Helens in golden point drama to reach the Grand Final, which saw Leeds Rhinos crowned Champions with Rob Burrow and Danny McGuire registering their eighth Grand Final victory.

The 2018 season saw current England head coach Shaun Wane bow out of his reign at Wigan Warriors with a Grand Final victory at Old Trafford, defeating Warrington Wolves.

Relegation drama in 2019 saw London Broncos go down on the last day of the season. Whilst Jackson Hastings and Salford Red Devils heroics got them to their first Grand Final but fell at the last hurdle to winners St Helens.

No one will be able to forget the drama of last year’s Grand Final with two legends of the game, Sean O’Loughlin and James Graham, bowing out in an empty stadium due to Covid-19 restrictions. The game was ultimately decided in the last seconds with Jack Welsby’s winning try to seal back-to-back Championships for St Helens.

Rhodri Jones, Super League chief commercial officer, said: “It’s great to be extending our successful partnership with Betfred. During this difficult period, they’ve been outstanding headline partners, and we can’t thank Fred and his team enough for their continued support. We look forward to continuing to work with them for the next two years. To have the support of someone like Fred who is so passionate about Super League and who shares our aspirations for its future is fantastic.”

Fred Done, Boss of Betfred, added: “The passion and enthusiasm shown by the fans, media and everybody involved in the game of rugby league is I believe, the essential reason this has proved such an enjoyable and rewarding sponsorship for Betfred and is why I had absolutely no hesitation in extending the Super League deal for at least a further two years.”

As part of the new sponsorship, Super League and Betfred will continue to support the ‘Gamble Responsible’ campaign, which is currently promoted at Super League games.
